UMSL Offers Exam Prep Course For Human Resource Professionals
Program will increase readiness to sit for the PHR and SPHR certification exams
The University of Missouri–St. Louis offers human resource professionals a prep course to increase their readiness to sit for the PHR and SPHR exams. The six-session course is select Saturdays from February 19–April 16, 2011, in the J.C. Penney Conference Center at UMSL. Offered in partnership with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), the course will enable HR professionals to start and finish their SHRM Learning System training and sit for the PHR/SPHR certification exam.
The program is designed for HR professionals planning to take the PHR or SPHR certification exam, companies who value enhanced professionalism in the human resource function, experienced managers new to human resource management, PHR professionals seeking to upgrade their certification to SPHR, HR professionals who value career growth and a deeper understanding of the entire HR body of knowledge, certified PHR and SPHR professionals who want to earn credit toward recertification.
The intensive course will cover six functional areas, responsibilities and associated knowledge defined by the Human Resource Certification Institute. Sessions will focus on strategic management, workforce planning and employment, human resource development, total rewards, employee and labor relations, and risk management.
Participants who attend and actively engage in all six sessions, meeting SHRM's prescribed requirements, will be awarded 3.5 continuing education units and a noncredit Chancellor's Certificate from UMSL, as well as an SHRM certificate of completion.
