ScanBook lets you create form descriptions quickly and easily and doesn't require any programming experience. The software is designed for applications using single-page scannable forms, multiple-page forms, or header sheets.

ScanBook translates mark data specific to the scannable form or booklet being processed. For optical mark read (OMR) scanner terminals with microprocessors, ScanBook downloads the form descriptions to the OMR. Then the OMR translates the data according to the specifications you select. For OMR devices without microprocessors, ScanBook performs the complete translation process, quickly converting data from the OMR to fixed-length ASCII text. You can use the ASCII file with application programs and database software. After the data is processed, it is stored in a permanent record file.

ScanBook can generate a visual representation of the described form or booklet, which you can view on screen or print on your graphics printer. In addition, ScanBook performs checks on the RS-232 cable interface between the OMR terminal and your computer and then alerts you to any problems that may interfere with the transmission of accurate data.
