Pilat HR Solutions Will Underwrite Human Capital Institute's 'Human Capital Theory & Strategy' Initiatives

Washington, DC - The Human Capital Institute (HCI), a professional association and educator in talent management strategies, and Pilat HR Solutions, a provider of talent management consulting and software, announced that Pilat will sponsor HCI's Human Capital Theory & Strategy learning and research track. The track is one of several topics addressed in HCI's Talent Strategy community of interest, a community HCI considers essential for organizations working to leverage human capital.

"Human capital is a core corporate asset, just like financial and physical assets. As such, it must be managed the way companies manage other assets," said Allan Schweyer, HCI's Executive Director. "This requires thinking strategically about how to invest in human capital, and figuring out how to optimize and measure its return."

In today's economy, the competitive strength of companies, regions, and countries is no longer strictly dependent on physical assets or resources. Instead, success depends largely on the intellectual attributes of knowledge workers. Indeed, recent data indicates that among Standard & Poor's 500 companies only one of every six dollars of market-to-book value represents financial or physical assets.

Because organizational value is increasingly driven by non-tangible capital, including talent, it is essential that business leaders acquire a solid understanding of the fundamentals of human capital management. After providing a framework for human capital theory, this learning track will focus on strategic approaches to human capital management. The Thought Leader panel will examine the fundamental principles associated with managing this core asset, along with new ideas, trends, and best practices. Webcasts, white papers, education, and other resources are all aimed at providing human capital professionals with information they need to contribute to organizational success.

"As the knowledge economy continues to expand, effective human capital management will become even more critical to maintaining a competitive edge. Finding better ways to attract, deploy, retain and, most importantly, grow excellent talent may even become survival issues," said Clinton Wingrove, CEO and Principal Consultant of Pilat's North American operations. "We're pleased to support HCI's efforts in this important area."
