Parker Aerospace deploys Web-based paid time-off technology

Parker Aerospace, a provider of systems and components for the aerospace industry, has deployed a Web-enabled employee self-service solution for tracking employee paid timeoff requests (PTO). The technology comes from BrightStar Information Technology Group Inc., an e-business consulting and services company based in Pleasanton, Calif.

The Web-enabled employee self-service solution allows employees of Irvine, Calif.-based Parker Aerospace, a unit of Parker Hannifin Corp., to submit paid time off (PTO) requests directly via the Web through a corporate intranet site. The solution, which integrates information from both legacy mainframes and enterprise resource planning applications, allows human resources and managers to review individual employee PTO history as well as their current accrual of PTO. The solution virtually eliminates manual processes associated with requests for leave.

"BrightStar's expertise in extending legacy applications and systems into a Web-based environment was a key factor in our decision to partner with them on this project," said Jack Richmond, vice president, information technology, Parker Aerospace. "By utilizing the integrated application that BrightStar has created, we anticipate an environment that will be easily maintainable, meets our business needs, and has a readily recognizable Web user interface for our 5,000 plus employees."
