PacifiCare Promotes James A. Frey to Senior Vice President

PacifiCare Health Systems Inc. named James A. Frey, 32, senior vice president of operations for PacifiCare's newly formed Health Plans division effective Feb. 1, 2000. Frey will be based at the company's Santa Ana, Calif. headquarters.

Frey formally served as president and chief executive officer for PacifiCare's Nevada health plan. The company is conducting a search for his replacement.

Frey will report directly to Ron Davis, who was recently appointed chief administrative officer of the Health Plans division and previously held the position of senior vice president of operations for PacifiCare Health Systems.

"I am pleased to promote James to lead our operations department," said Davis. "He has achieved impressive results and continuously demonstrates PacifiCare's commitment to providing quality health care for our members."

In his new role, Frey will be responsible for the Health Plans division's overall operations and customer service functions for the company's commercial and Medicare+Choice product lines. Additionally, he will be accountable for each of PacifiCare's five regional customer service centers located in Cypress, Calif., Hillsboro, Ore., Denver, Colo., San Antonio, Texas, and Phoenix, Ariz.
