Namescape rDirectory Leverages Microsoft Active Directory® To Create Powerful Employee Directories At Low Cost

Network Solution is Highly Secure, Flexible, Searchable, And Scalable To Assist Enterprises of Any Size, Even Multi-National Organizations

Washington, DC - Namescape Corporation today announced it is providing a way for mid-to-large organizations to create flexible, secure, searchable, and infinitely scalable employee and resource information directories, all by taking advantage of the inherent power of Microsoft Active Directory.

rDirectory, now available in three editions, is a software application that builds on the unique capabilities of Active Directory in order to simplify the task of creating and implementing employee and/or other resource directories. With rDirectory, IT or HR departments can integrate custom information ranging from "phone number" and "email address" to "supervisor," "job grade," "skills," even employee photos, thus enabling authorized employees and administrators to conduct feature-rich searches of personnel throughout the organization.

Because rDirectory is a network application, it covers employees regardless of where they are deployed—even worldwide—as long as they are part of the network. Employees can also securely self-service their personal entries using a user interface that is customizable by IT personnel.

"The vast majority of office workers in the U.S., and over half of those worldwide, already have accounts in Microsoft Active Directory," said Randy Bradley, president of Namescape. "rDirectory makes real sense because it builds on this powerful component of the enterprise infrastructure. It installs literally in minutes, yet provides incredible business benefits from this existing resource."

Flexible, Secure
rDirectory, deployed to the organization as a website, serves as a platform for Catalogs defined by the organization's IT staff. rDirectory Catalogs are general-purpose white-page/yellow-page applications that are created simply by filling in a template.

Using virtually any directory-based information, rDirectory can contain an unlimited number of Catalogs, each with unique capabilities to search, browse, view and edit specific information. rDirectory can also be tailored to allow users to export rDirectory search results to an Excel spreadsheet, or user details to personal Outlook Contact lists, thereby enabling easier off-line use of directory information.

rDirectory uses native Active Directory security to control which applications and data users can access, and what data, if any, they can edit. This allows administrators to control security in one place with existing IT skills, enabling rDirectory to be deployed with confidence.

Collaborates with Applications
rDirectory also allows users to leverage SharePoint Services in new ways. SharePoint Services, a free technology from Microsoft, enables users and administrators to create powerful collaboration websites, such as document libraries with version controls, that integrate with Office. However, hundreds or even thousands of SharePoint sites can quickly propagate. Using rDirectory, these websites can now be published in Active Directory to be made easily available throughout the organization.

Three Editions Available
Namescape rDirectory is available in three editions of increasingly powerful functionality: Community Employee Directory Edition, available free of charge, for organizations that want to initiate a basic web-based employee directory application; Professional Employee Directory Edition, a scalable, feature-rich and customizable employee directory application with self-service and Excel export capability; and Enterprise Resource Directory Edition, supporting virtually any schema and syntax available as well as role-based menu, audit logging, and web forms to integrate with other websites and applications.

Namescape rDirectory is being demonstrated at FOSE 2005 from the Namescape exhibit, Booth 1144B of the Washington Convention Center. For more information, visit the booth, the company's website (www.namescape.com), or call 1-480-922-9909.
