Kenexa Helps Boston Public Schools Recruit 'Best Talent, Best Teachers'

Oldest Public School System Uses Kenexa Recruiter®to Attract Highly Skilled and Motivated Workforce

WAYNE, PA - Kenexa®, a provider of talent acquisition and retention solutions, today announced that Boston Public Schools (BPS), the nation's oldest public school system, has selected Kenexa Recruiter®, Kenexa's Web-based enterprise applicant tracking solution, to assist with its recruitment efforts. BPS, which has 139 schools serving more than 58,600 students – including Boston Latin School, the oldest public school in the United States –prides itself on recruiting and retaining the best and brightest teachers.

Kenexa Recruiter was chosen as part of the BPS system's STAR (Strategic Technology Achieving Results) SEARCH initiative. STAR's goals include achieving paperless recruiting and hiring processes, standardizing hiring practices, driving high user adoption and supporting the system's goal of being efficient and effective educators.

Barbara McGann, Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources for Boston Public Schools, said, "Our primary focus is on children and getting them to proficiency. To do so, we need to attract and develop a highly skilled, motivated workforce that supports effective learning. Not only does Kenexa Recruiter automate our hiring processes, it gives us the ability to reduce time-to-hire, refer qualified candidates elsewhere within our school system, and improve retention by making better candidate selections."

McGann added, "We average 50,000 resumes per year. With that kind of volume, we needed a strategic technology solution that was easy-to-use and would help us get the right talent into the right jobs. In addition to their ability to provide us with a hosted solution, Kenexa took time to understand how recruiting the best teachers and staff helps improve student achievement. This partnership orientation was key in our decision to move forward with them."

Kenexa's CEO, Rudy Karsan, commented, "We believe that our children are our future and their education and care is of utmost importance. Kenexa is deeply honored that a venerable institution such as Boston Public Schools has entrusted us as a selection solution for its employees."

The Kenexa system is slated to go live in May 2005. More information about BPS can be accessed at http://boston.k12.ma.us.
