Fiserv acquires third part administrator Benefit Planners

Technology provider Fiserv Inc has acquired Benefit Planners, a third-party provider of administrative services for employee benefit programs. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

"Benefit Planners brings a depth of experience in administering employee benefits, along with a strong portfolio of products and services to our Insurance Solutions Group," said Howard F. Arner, president of the Fiserv Insurance Solutions Group.

Benefit Planners was formed in 1982 to provide claims and administrative services to self-funded employer health plans. The company services more than 200 self-insured employer groups representing over 300,000 participants throughout the United States, Latin America, Europe and the Middle East.

"Our mission has always been to provide exceptional customer service, to prudently manage employee benefit dollars and to custom design benefit programs that fit each employer's specific needs," said Tom P. Cusick, Jr., president and CEO of Benefit Planners. "The philosophy and business strategy at Fiserv are a perfect fit with Benefit Planners."

As part of Brookfield, WI-based Fiserv, Benefit Planners will continue operations under the same management team, operating philosophy and corporate culture as before the acquisition. Benefit Planners' headquarters will remain in Boerne, TX, near San Antonio.
