CBS Payroll, based in Fort Worth, Texas, was founded in 1966 as Continental Business Service. Begun in San Bernardino, California, Continental Business Service specialized in accounting and income tax services for small to medium-sized businesses. We recommended that our clients use outside payroll services, but we found we were repeatedly completing the payroll process, including accounting, benefit, and other management reporting.

We carefully analyzed our clients' payroll needs and, armed with this information, began developing a payroll program in 1988. Since then, CBS Payroll has been under continual development and enhancement. The development process has taken us from a single-state, small-employer system to its current status as a national system capable of handling employers with thousands of employees. Further enhancements led to the marketing of CBS Payroll software in 1992 to payroll companies throughout the United States.

Today, CBS Payroll processes payroll for thousands of clients, and supports hundreds of payroll firms with its payroll software. To accomplish this, CBS has offices in Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Massachusetts, Texas, and Utah, but processes payrolls for clients in all 50 U.S. states.
