Newport Beach, CA (Marketwire) Alliant Insurance Services (www.alliantinsurance.com), the nation's largest specialty insurance brokerage firm, has acquired ArlenGroup, a leading regional full-service employee benefits firm with offices in downtown San Francisco and Walnut Creek, Calif. ArlenGroup will continue to operate under its existing identity.

ArlenGroup is headed by founder and CEO Roger Arlen, CEBS, and co-founder and Vice President Bret Goodman, CEBS. With a staff of over 40 benefit professionals, the 15-year-old firm focuses on meeting the benefits needs of companies with 50 to over 2,500 employees. ArlenGroup specializes in providing employee benefit solutions to technology and professional service firms, with a special expertise in the health and welfare benefits needs of medium and large size law firms.

The firm's comprehensive suite of services is delivered through four practice groups:

  • Benefits -- consulting, communications, and brokerage services for health and welfare programs, both domestically and internationally
  • Outsourcing -- full-service enrollment, billing, call center, and post-employment benefit administration
  • Technology -- consulting and implementation services for web-based employee self-service and communications systems
  • Wellness -- lowering healthcare and other employment costs through workplace health risk identification and reduction programs.

"The acquisition of ArlenGroup is a strategic move to expand Alliant's employee benefits practice in the San Francisco Bay Area and throughout the country," stated Alliant Chairman and CEO Tom Corbett. "ArlenGroup is a successful, well-established firm that has earned a reputation for delivering highly effective solutions that meet employee benefits needs while controlling employer costs. The addition of Roger Arlen, Bret Goodman, and the ArlenGroup consulting team provides Alliant with forward-thinking benefits experts who have built a company known for its strategic expertise, commitment to innovative technology, and personalized service."

Roger Arlen said that joining his firm with Alliant will provide ArlenGroup with new and expanded resources, market relationships, and a broad range of specialized services that will enhance the value delivered to clients. "We consider this to be a tremendous opportunity for our clients and our employees," he commented. "We keep the client-centric and entrepreneurial culture that has defined our firm while gaining access to expanded resources and client facing solutions."

"The employee benefits environment has become dramatically more complex -- a trend that is not likely to ease up in the years ahead," Goodman explained. "By joining forces with Alliant, we will have the resources to better meet the challenges of the future on behalf of our clients. Both Roger and I are excited about the opportunity to join one of the leading full-service insurance brokerage firms in the U.S., and we remain committed to providing our clients with the same responsive service they have come to expect from our company."
