AFLAC SELECTED TOP INSURANCE COMPANY TO WORK FOR IN AMERICA BY FORTUNE MAGAZINE

AFLAC has been named the top insurance employer in Fortune magazine's listing of "The 100 Best Companies to Work for in America." The article appears in the February 4, 2002, issue.

In response to Fortune's announcement, AFLAC's Senior Vice President and Director of Human Resources Audrey Boone Tillman said: "AFLAC is honored to be included on Fortune's list for the fourth consecutive year and excited to be named the top insurance company to work for in America. We are proud of our employees and the pride they take in their work, and we try to reward them for all they do to make AFLAC successful. We will continue to look for ways to make AFLAC an even better place to work."

Fortune's selection is based on each company's ranking on information about company philosophies, policies, programs, and practices that affect people. One component is the Great Place to Work Trust Index©, an employee attitude survey. Randomly selected employees are asked to complete confidential surveys covering credibility, pride, fairness, respect, and camaraderie. Another component is the Great Place to Work Culture Audit questionnaire designed to reflect special, unique, or unusual qualities about a company's culture and what attracts people to the company and makes them want to stay. AFLAC ranked number 33 overall on Fortune's listing and has now appeared on the list four years in a row.

Fortune cited AFLAC's on-site child-care center, which is Georgia's largest corporate on-site child-care facility with a capacity for 540 children, as one of AFLAC's unique benefits. In addition, AFLAC's corporate training program and stock option benefits were noted.
