AdvanceOnline, incorporated partners with region X OSHA training institute to bring web-based training to workers nationwide
"By putting our course content online, Region X OTIEC can reach more people than we have in the past through our classroom-based and distance learning courses," said R. Scott MacKay, Director of Continuing Education at the University of Washington's Department of Environmental Health. Courses are available through the newly launched Web site: Region X OSHA Training Institute Education Center Online Institute (www.regionxoti.org). Region X OTIEC chose AdvanceOnline as its partner because of the company's extensive expertise in instructional design and effective Web-based training, and its ability to rapidly turn safety curriculum into online courses.
Through the relationship with AdvanceOnline, Region X OTIEC will initially offer a wide variety of OSHA safety training programs online such as ergonomics, forklift safety, and hazardous waste operations and emergency response. Established in 1995 by the U.S. Department of Labor, the Region X OTIEC offers standards-based OSHA training for both the private sector and federal agencies. With the addition of online training, high-quality instruction is available to workers and companies -- especially those in remote locations -- without the costs associated with student travel and lost productivity.
This partnership adds another member to AdvanceOnline's Vital Training Alliance, a consortium of training developers, Internet technology experts, marketers and industry partners who are committed to the best possible development and delivery of vital safety training.
"This relationship will bring new content to thousands of people who need worker safety training and both organizations will be able to reach out to more people," said Wayne Grotheer, vice president of strategic alliances for AdvanceOnline. "Region X OTIEC will have the ability to present the most effective Web-based certification training in the industry while still offering in-person practicums. For us, working with Region X OTIEC will help us create courses that meet the mandated OSHA regulations and ensure the content is of OSHA standards."
"We wanted a partner who could adapt our materials for the Web and who also understands this critical marketplace," said MacKay. "Our training impacts people's lives -- AdvanceOnline demonstrated they have the commitment, skills, and knowledge to match the seriousness of our efforts to bring training to workers in any way that is effective. We had our advisory committee review these online courses and found them to be of high caliber and quality -- matching our standard of training. AdvanceOnline is focused and dedicated to a safer workplace, which matches our goals in offering training that makes a difference."
