WHY ORDER A WORKPORT REPORT?

Evaluating Applicants

Using background reports from the WORKPORT database is a fast way to evaluate job applicants. Reports can help you answer the following questions:
  • Where has the applicant worked in the past?
  • What is the applicant's work experience?
  • Is the information given on the job application truthful?
REPORT CONTENTS

Information Supplied on a WORKPORT

  • Prior work experience (dates of employment with specific companies)
  • Positions held and past employers
  • Rehire Information
  • Criminal Convictions records ( Available to web ordering members only)
  • Recommendations about criminal record searches.
WHEN AND HOW TO USE THIS REPORT

WORKPORTS are usually used in conjunction with a job application. Employers compare information on the application with the WORKPORT. If a person leaves off information on the application about their employment history, an employer can use details found on the WORKPORT to inquire about this omission.

Another use of the WORKPORT is to indicate each applicant's experience. The report can tell how long he or she has worked in the industry and in what positions.

Public Record Section of WORKPORT
This portion shows the results of criminal background reports (PROPORTs) associated with the person who is the subject of the WORKPORT. Since Pretiem works with a number of employers in similar industries and regions, there may be criminal reports that have been processed concerning the same applicant or employee. It has always been the policy of Pretiem and it's members to share information to assist with hiring decisions. Prior searches for criminal records and the results of those searches are in the Public Record Portion of WORKPORT.

Recommendations Section of WORKPORT
A separate section of WORKPORT shows prior addresses contained in the WORKPORT data base for the applicant or employee who is the subject of the report. This can be a useful guide in selecting where to order PROPORTS (criminal reports).

Sandy Smith applied for a position with the Gloss company, a food processing company in New Orleans. On her application, she listed three employers where she worked in the past five years.

Gloss Company is a member of PRETIEM and requests WORKPORTS on all their applicants.

The WORKPORT showed that Ms. Smith worked at four employers. The three listed by the applicant and one other. The undisclosed employer indicated that Ms. Smith was not eligible for re-hire with their company.

When confronted with this information Ms. Smith admitted that she was terminated from this position due to violent behavior in the workplace. Gloss Company decided to hire another candidate for the position.
